Korman is known for sprawling communities, and that holds true for their complex in Eastwick. This area of Southwest Philly isn’t often thought of as a residential location even by long-time locals, but this oasis is an expansive campus of about twenty buildings neighboring the Philadelphia International Airport.
Units offer energy-efficient Modernista kitchens with stainless steel appliances, maplewood floors and semi-private entrances. The spacious grounds offer room for a bevy of outdoor amenities including a community garden, landscaped courtyards and a private off-leash dog park called “The Woof Woof Club.” A fitness center and business center are also available in the main building.
With the Delaware County border just a block down the street, the neighborhood is more suburban than city, and as such, the suburban-style availability of supermarkets thrives. A large ShopRite is across Island Avenue from the main entrance, and Grocery Outlet Bargain Market (Sharon Hill), Produce Junction and Sav-A-Lot (both Darby) are just a few blocks away in Delco. Island Food Market, Grovers Meat Market and Balducci’s are also nearby options.

Rising five stories over the expanse of rowhouses and warehouses of the Passyunk Square neighborhood of northern South Philly is 1200 Washington, a boutique-style luxury apartment building just two blocks off of Broad Street.
The studio, one- and two-bedroom apartment homes feature energy-efficient appliances, heating and cooling, granite countertops, oversized windows, hardwood flooring and technology conveniences such as USB charging stations and keyless entry.
There’s no better place to live for grocery convenience than 1200 Washington, and that’s partly due to three words: The. Italian. Market. There are nearly forty grocers, butcheries, fishmongers, fromagers and chocolatiers down the Market’s 9th Street two-block corridor, from Christian Street to the East Passyunk corner that houses the Pat’s and Geno’s cheesesteak rivals.
But the Italian Market is just the start. The Hung Vuong Super Market, a gigantic Vietnamese supermarket, is right across the street, the Bella Vista Sav-A-Lot is a block away, Sprouts Farmers Market is on the other side of Broad Street and the Passyunk Square Acme Market is also nearby. And the gleaming, brand-new Broad and Washington Target store is just two blocks down.
Methodology
We looked at all apartments in Philadelphia and rated them on the number of grocery stores within a half-mile radius. We used an exponentially decreasing scale based on distance from the apartment. For instance, grocers located across the street from a specific property would carry more weight than those a quarter-mile away. Our grocery store counts come from commercially available business listings.
