The Most Expensive Apartment in Atlanta is…

If you have a spare 10 grand in your pocket a month, this Georgia dream could be your reality.

We sifted through all the data on rent.com in search of Atlanta’s most exclusive and expensive apartments and uncovered The Huntley, a stunning luxury high-rise apartment building on the eastern edge of Atlanta’s swanky and chic Buckhead neighborhood. And settled atop The Huntley you’ll find The Eudora, a 3-bed/3.5-bath, 2,682-square-foot penthouse that is move-in ready at a cool 10 bucks shy of $10,000 a month.

It’s all about location

Only just opened in June of 2018, the 260-unit Huntley is one of the newest luxury multi-family residences in swanky Buckhead, Atlanta’s most desirable upmarket neighborhood. The Huntley’s complex is situated walking distance from both Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square, two of Atlanta’s ritziest shopping centers. These exclusive malls feature a slew of high-end shops from Cartier to Burberry and regular local celebrity sightings. On a walk out your front door, you might run into Charles Barkley or Donald Glover on their way home from a spree at Armani.

And that’s just the start of the amazing shopping experience around The Huntley. The urban core of Buckhead – the area bounded by Lenox, Piedmont and Peachtree Roads – is almost literally steps from the front entrance. Here you’ll find the highest concentration of upscale shopping boutiques in the nation with more than 1,500 retail units. It might be as close to living on Rodeo Drive as you can get outside of Beverly Hills. And because Atlantans know what’s really important, yes there is a Publix a mere half a mile away.

In fact, The Huntley might sit on some of the most desirable real estate in Atlanta. Take a walk a block or two southwest from your apartment and you’ll wander past some of the poshest and trendiest restaurants, cafés, museums, theaters and independent art galleries in Atlanta. Take a turn immediately to the north, and you can escape the city entirely as you head up the tree-lined suburban streets of Brookhaven and North Buckhead. Chastain Park and the Peachtree and Brookhaven Country Club golf courses are all within three miles.

The Gold Line Lenox MARTA station and the Red Line Buckhead station are both under a mile from your door and will get you into Downtown Atlanta in about 15 minutes or to Hartsfield Airport in less than an hour. Or hop in your Tesla (that you can buy at the mall) and get anywhere via the interchange onto Georgia 400 just three minutes down the street.

Fine Southern living

The Eudora penthouse at The Huntley was built with modern technology in mind, encompassing a slew of Smart Home devices from Nest smart thermostats to Mecho automatic shades. Each of the full baths contain heated floors (and heated towel racks), the bedrooms are lined with plush broadloom carpeting and the rest of the space features locally-sourced hardwood.

There’s a nearly ludicrous amount of storage space and number of continuous built-ins across the three bedrooms, walk-in closets, bathrooms and kitchen. The ultramodern kitchen incorporates Tuscany and Rocksalt quartz countertops and fully gas-powered cooking appliances, a rarity absent from most other swank Buckhead residences. You’ll certainly want to grab a glass of cabernet from your 24-bottle inlaid wine cooler before you stretch out in front of your native fireplace adorned with stone inlays.

Just outside the floor-to-ceiling window walls, you’ll find not one, but two private balconies, one a sitting area off the master bedroom and the other a large curved space adjacent to the dining room featuring an outdoor fireplace. Both balconies are lined with glass railings for a perfectly unobstructed view over bustling Buckhead Village or the greenery of Brookhaven.

Upscale amenities galore

But what’s inside the apartment is just the beginning. With campus amenities like these, why would you ever need to leave? Starting at the top, just above your bedroom ceiling, is a stunning rooftop “Sky Lounge” overlooking the Midtown and Downtown skyline, with a private dining room, terrace and 360-degree views.

The Huntley contain an ultramodern two-story fitness center complete with yoga and Pilates studios, a grand foyer with a welcoming communal fireplace and a plethora of private office spaces for residents. The building’s Clubhouse is tailor-made for spending time with friends and neighbors, while the library reading den offers a quiet space to relax including a full coffee bar.

If you need a respite from Atlanta’s brutal summer heat, take a dip in the luxury saltwater pool with attached water feature. Elsewhere on the grounds, you’ll discover an outdoor barbecue grilling kitchen and two seating areas around vibrant fire pits. And when the pooch needs pampering, just visit the self-service pet grooming spa and the private pet park.

What it’s worth

Exactly what would it take to live the affluent Buckhead lifestyle? A lot of kudzu. Experts offer the helpful suggestion to spend no more than a third of your pre-tax income on rent. So, if you’re considering a move to this luxury corner of the ATL, you should be raking in at least $359,000 a year.

In case you’re thinking of spending your hard-earned money elsewhere, here’s what else you can buy for the monthly cost of this apartment:

  • 1,017 copies of Childish Gambino’s “Awaken, My Love” CD
  • 22,704 Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets
  • 237 single-day tickets to Six Flags Over Georgia
  • A private reception and soda tasting for 800 friends at the World of Coca-Cola
  • One suite ticket for all 2019 Atlanta United home games

If your wallet is a little smaller

At the time of publication, the $9,990 a month penthouse was unavailable. But never fear, Atlanta has some other (slightly) more affordable locales.
